nah what you really want is big on back, even bigger on front, that way there’s very little belt slippage

another question is when modding the trans for road use do you lose low end torque and take off.

my mower has a 2 1/2 in the back and a 6 3/4 in the front and a tec. tranny. got it clocked by my yamaha grizzly at 43 mph. its also a briggs opposed 18hp. pos engine. gutless compared to my vtwin motors

  11. cobras280 says:

Yeah This is Tim thats my mower Chris is the camera man. Its a stock 18 hp opposed with dual headers and mufflers I welded on. Its got a 6″ pulley on the front and a 2 1/2 on the peerless 668 transmission with a c welded in the h shifter to clear the belt. I used an old bike brake handle on the steering wheel for the throttle. I took an 80s style murry lawn mower and garden tractor and pieced them together.Hopefully after the tranny is fixed we get video doin 55. &0 mph here we come :)

  17. smallengine13 says:

is that the peerless 600? i’m trying to get a baseline for the tranny I’ve been hearing the peerless 600 3spd is the best choice. havn’t had any luck finding any not even sure what they look like.
