hey clubcar, i used to have that craftsman tractor just like in the video, i have nothuing but trouble, with the engine, vibrations, eating up drive belts, charging stator went out on me 2 times, took it back to get my money back, it was 2 months old, got me another one, and it has a briggs engine on it and ran sweet, no more trouble with it

Nice! Would like to see it started and running though. If its really cold out there, drink a cup of hot coaco, it will warm you up. ;)

The best ones are free to $75- they take very little to get em going – some freebies of mine work good- others i got with blown motors- im not a huge fan of tecumseh motors- they tend to blow oil out the breather-ill stick with my briggs. Good find tho

    post the starting video!!!

i just got the mower today and it is the EXACT same model as clubcas98’s

Carb. kits for these are available at most any small engine repair shop. Try a local Tecumseh dealer. If you are getting the exact same machine with an 11-hp engine, though, there’s a problem. Tecumseh did not make an 11-hp engine for these mowers. You probably have a Briggs. A dealer will have a kit, but you may be better off with a new carburetor. Old Briggs engines had major issues with throttle shaft wear, leading to lean fuel mixtures and poor running. No kit will reslove this issue…

that tractor is the EXACT same as mine!!!!!

thanks for the tip, where can i get a rebuild kit 4 it? i am getting the same tractor with an 11 hp engine

  18. clubcar98 says:

    im thining about that…

  19. clubcar98 says:

    dude im getting on aim!

You might want to try a $ 15.00 carburetor rebuild kit in this one. Tecumseh carburetors like this one are notorious for performing poorly, and a kit will make sure to give you new normal-wear parts like gaskets and seals. A new float is sold separately.

Also, you can remove the low-speed fuel mixture screw from the side of the carb. and replace the “0″ ring inside. Spray carb. cleaner in there and give it a good blowing out. This will greatly help engine idle performance.

    Good Luck!

Best of luck on your project. A rider in as good a condition as this one is definately worth $ 75.00. Craftsman riders aren’t the best, but they are great for inexperienced mechanics to work on because of the simplicity of their design.

Nice to see a young man interested in outdoor power equipment. I fixed my first rider-which also happened to be a Craftsman-when I was 12 years old. It had an eight horsepower Tecumseh engine. Great runner.

  22. adb140275 says:

hey, there is a 90% chance i am going to get the craftsman rear engine rider

  23. adb140275 says:

    is it a runner?

  24. adb140275 says:

hah lol, not as old as MY equipment! lol

    i think it was a 1999 or 98 or sumtin i forget
