Review brought to you by Best Used Riding Lawnmowers

Among the best in its class the Craftsman DYS 4500 riding lawn mower is and easy to use riding mower. With its huge 54″ cutting deck and 26 hp Kohler Pro engine it will cut a very large lawn in record time.

The Kohler Pro engine is quiet, even with the cutting deck engaged and is strong enough to easily cope with small hills and inclines. The operation is easy with a single foot control for forward and reverse operation. The automatic transmission is smooth and very responsive and a cruise control is included. very handy for large open areas. The large cutting desk does lead to a larger than average turning radius of sixteen inches. The cutting deck is easily adjustable and can be set for cutting heights between one and four inches in six increments. The lower setting give a good cut even when the terrain is uneven but above three inches the cut is slightly uneven.

This Craftsman riding lawn mower has a sturdy construction and is a tough mower that can easily handle lawns with grass of varying lengths. Even large areas of thickly growing weeds are easily managed and the large cutting deck allows fast and efficient mowing of large areas of grass.

In addition to mowing grass it can be use as a snow remover and for hauling loads although heavier tasks are a little beyond the power of the engine. Snow blower attachments and blades are optional extras. A mulching blade is available and there are two bagging systems. Poly carts can be attached for light hauling tasks.

Overall the Craftsman DYS 4500 riding mower is a versatile, easy to operate machine that will quickly mow any area of grass. The only drawback is the slightly underpowered Kohl engine that limits the top speed and power.
